2010 Mock Draft:
Here is a look ahead to the 2010 NFL draft. Order is based off of 2009 draft. |
Round 1, Pick 1: Detroit Lions - George Selvie, DE - South Florida
After drafting franchise signal caller Matthew Stafford in 2009, they go for the heart of the defense and rebuild with a top defensive end. Now they will have blocks to build on both sides of the ball. Spikes could be the best defensive player available next year as well, if they want to go middle linebacker.
|
Round 1, Pick 2: St. Louis Rams - Brandon Spikes, LB - Florida
As long as Bulger doesn't play himself out of a job, the Rams decide to try and rebuild their defense, starting at the MLB position. Spikes decides to return for his senior season and has an amazing campaign, drawing comparisons to guys like Ray Lewis.
|
Round 1, Pick 3: Kansas City Chiefs - Sam Bradford, QB - Oklahoma
After Thigpen proves he is a bust and the Chiefs cannot win with him, they take the QB who has a standout Senior campaign, where they win the BCS Championship.
|
Round 1, Pick 4: Seattle Seahawks - Taylor Mays, S - USC
Seahawks haven't flourished under Jim Mora, Jr. and need help on the defensive side of the ball. Luckily, Seattle native Taylor Mays is available right here, and he would love to play in his home town. The Seahawks have a history of drafting home town guys like Jerramy Stevens and Marcus Trufant.
|
Round 1, Pick 5: Cleveland Browns - Greg Hardy , DE - Ole Miss
After filling the void at cornerback in 2009, the Browns aim to bolster the pass rushing with the top defensive end from the SEC. |
Round 1, Pick 6: Cincinnati Bengals - Jermaine Gresham, TE - Oklahoma
After selecting a franchise left tackle in 2009, they aim to add weapons for Carson Palmer after the departure of Chad Johnson. Gresham will be the first weapon taken. |
Round 1, Pick 7: Oakland Raiders - Arrelious Benn , WR - Illinois
After drafting a franchise QB, RB, and OT in the past 3 drafts, they will go after their next need: Wide Receiver. The Raiders and Al Davis love taking great athletic talent; Benn can provide that. A cornerback opposite Asomugha is a good start, too. That will lock up what they were hoping to take care of with DeAngelo Hall a year prior. |
Round 1, Pick 8: Jacksonville Jaguars - Russell Okung, OT - Oklahoma State
Jacksonville has their defense set, and now need a franchise left tackle to protect David Garrard.
|
Round 1, Pick 9: Green Bay Packers - Trevard Lindley, CB - Kentucky
Time to replace the retiring Charles Woodson with the best cornerback available.
|
Round 1, Pick 10: San Francisco 49ers - Tim Tebow , QB - Florida
San Francisco is going to be the poor souls trying to make an NFL QB out of Tim Tebow. They will have no other choice after having absolutely no passing game and a turnover-prone QB in Shaun Hill. I don't think he should be a first round pick, but it looks like teams are stupid enough to make him one. |
Round 1, Pick 11: Buffalo Bills - Terrence Cody, DT - Bama
Bills could use some extra help on the defensive line next to Aaron Schobel. Cody is the man right here.
|
Round 1, Pick 12: Denver Broncos - Ndamukong Suh, DT - Nebraska
The Broncos need someone to play inside after drafting Jarvis Moss for the outside. Suh is too good to pass up for value right here.
|
Round 1, Pick 13: Washington Redskins - Trent Williams , OT - Oklahoma
Redskins need a franchise offensive tackle here to replace the retiring Jansen and eventually Chris Samuels.
|
Round 1, Pick 14: New Orleans Saints -Carlos Dunlap, DE - Florida
New Orleans needs help at defensive end opposite Will Smith.
|
Round 1, Pick 15: Houston Texans - Colt McCoy, QB - Texas
Houston can't pass up a franchise QB here. They will try to replace Matt Schuab after he plays himself out of a starting job.
|
Round 1, Pick 16: San Diego Chargers -Sean Weatherspoon, LB - Mizzou
It's hard to find weaknesses on the Chargers roster, but defensively they could use an upgrade at outside linebacker opposite Shawn Merriman. Sean Weatherspoon will definitely do that. |
Round 1, Pick 17: New York Jets - C.J. Spiller, RB - Clemson
New York Jets will be trying to improve the rushing game after Thomas Jones begins to show his age. Getting toward the end of his career, they will have to find a replacement to groom.
|
Round 1, Pick 18: Chicago Bears - Ciron Black , OT - LSU
Chicago Bears find a top 3 offensive lineman falling into thier laps, they can't pass that up.
|
Round 1, Pick 19: Tampa Bay Buccaneers - DeMarcus Granger, DT - Oklahoma
Tampa needs a replacement for retiring Chris Hovan after 2009. Enter DeMarcus Granger.
|
Round 1, Pick 20: Dallas Cowboys - Brandon Graham , DE - Michigan
A good replacement for the unproductive Marcus Spears.
|
Round 1, Pick 21: Philadelphia Eagles - DeMarco Murray, RB - Oklahoma
Murray will be the replacement for aging Brian Westbrook. |
Round 1, Pick 22: Minnesota Vikings - Mark Herzlich, LB - Boston College
After only having E.J. Henderson for talent at the linebacking level, they will take a top-notch OLB in Mark Herzlich.
|
Round 1, Pick 23: New England Patriots - Sergio Kindle, LB - Texas
Replacement for the retiring Mike Vrabel or Adalius Thomas, take your pick. |
Round 1, Pick 24: Atlanta Falcons - Adam Ulatoski, OT - Texas
Atlanta decides to try and surround Matt Ryan with some talent and picks an offensive tackle to help block for him and Michael Turner. |
Round 1, Pick 26: Baltimore Ravens - Joe Haden, CB - Florida
Baltimore will need to replace Samari Rolle and Chris McAllister eventually, as they will be toward the end of their careers. Perhaps Haden can play one side while they move one of the two veterans to nickelback. |
Round 1, Pick 27: Carolina Panthers - Josh McNeil, C - Tennessee
Carolina will get a shot at the best center in the country and they will take it. This will help them flourish with DeAngelo Williams and Jonathan Stewart. |
Round 1, Pick 28: Indianapolis Colts - Sergio Render, OG - Virginia Tech
The Colts will patch their offensive guard spot with Sergio Render, who will most likely be the best available for his position. |
Round 1, Pick 29: New York Giants - Dennis Pitta, TE - BYU
Giants need a receiving threat that is better than Boss. Pitta is the man for the job. |
Round 1, Pick 30: Tennessee Titans - Geno Atkins, DT - Georgia
Geno Atkins will become the replacement for Albert Haynesworth. |
Round 1, Pick 31: Arizona Cardinals -Rico McCoy, LB - Texas
After having extreme defensive problems, the Cardinals go defense in 2010. McCoy is a good option for them to replace Chike Okaefor. |
Round 1, Pick 32: Pittsburgh Steelers - Sam Young, OT - Notre Dame
The Steelers offensive line could use yet another boost, and Sam Young will be the best available tackle left.
